"Empty" forms part of a series of drawings that are inspired by the lonely yet not quite aloneness that is often sensed around derelict buildings.
Perspective is used to question whether the viewer is in the uneasy situation of being inside the space, or has the option to be merely curious.
The used of contrasting light and dark is used to create a sense of foreboding and claustrophobia. The lighter areas give some relief by being a reminder of a bright world outside, the hope of the future.
The drawing is framed in black wood made to measure frame.
